Race Recap // Rocket Takes 2 Spots on the Podium

This weekend was the first Canadian Superbike Championship race of the year in Shannonville. For those lucky enough to be there, they got to experience some excellent racing over the weekend.

This year, Rocket is supporting Sam Guerin and Jordan Szoke in the Pro Superbike Class, who finished 2nd and 3rd respectably behind Ben Young in both race 1 and 2.

Guerin was content with his 2nd place finish, but of course is going to be looking for the number 1 spot at the next stop in the CSBK Championship.

“The second place is important. It’s another 1-2 for BMW and we’re still in the championship,” Guerin said. “I tried to stay with Ben, but we’re still learning the new bike, so it’s better to be here than in the back of an ambulance!”

Szoke dominated the start of race one and looked like he was going to cruise to a victory, but mechanical issues slowed him slightly over the weekend. He still escaped with two 3rd place finishes.

“We felt really great in practice, and I was really looking forward to the race, but we had some issues in turn three and four and at one point I almost thought I was going to have to pull off,” Szoke said. “It’s a bummer. I’m not saying we would have won, but I thought I could have stuck at the front a little longer today, but I have a great crew and we’ll get to the bottom of it.”

The next race in Grand Bend will start on June 7th, 2024. If you can't be their in person, you can following along at CSBK.ca or look for the next Race Recap here in the Joe Rocket Canada Area 92 Blog.
