6 Reasons Canadian Riders Are Built Different

Let’s face it—if you ride motorcycles in Canada, you’re a special breed. With unpredictable weather, and endless stretches of wilderness we’re not just riders—we’re survivors. From dodging wildlife to riding in temperatures that make most people stay inside, Canadian bikers are built different.

1. If It’s Above 2 Degrees, We’re Riding – Other countries wait for “perfect riding conditions.” In Canada, if the snow has melted and it’s above freezing, we’re on the road. Might we lose feeling in our fingers? Maybe. Do we care? Absolutely not. That’s what insulated gloves (and stubbornness) are for.

2. We Constantly Watch for Deer, Moose, and Elk – Forget potholes—our biggest road hazards weigh half a ton and have antlers. Whether it’s a deer darting across the road, a moose standing there like it owns the place, or an elk deciding to test your reflexes, Canadian riders have mastered the art of wildlife avoidance.

Pro Tip: If you see one, assume five more are nearby.

3. Our Riding Season is Short, So We Make It Count – Canadian riding season is like summer vacation—too short, and over before you know it. That’s why we ride through rain, bugs, and heatwaves, squeezing every last kilometer out of the season. Canadian

Rule #1: If you’re not riding in March, you’re wasting it.

4. We’re Not Afraid of Gravel Roads – If you ride in Canada, you’re hitting gravel—guaranteed. Whether it’s a “shortcut” through cottage country, a logging road adventure, or just construction season, we don’t let a little loose stone slow us down.

5. We Ride Through Swarms of Bugs Until We Can’t See – At some point, every Canadian rider has had their helmet shield completely covered in mosquitoes and black flies, making visibility optional. Some of us even ride with giant smiles, catching bugs in our teeth. There’s always that one person in the group who shamelessly grabs the gas station squeegee to clean their shield while the rest of us pretend we weren’t thinking the same thing.

6. We Always End the Ride with a Double-Double – No ride is complete without a coffee stop. It might be at a gas station, a roadside café, or some small-town diner, but true Canadian riders know there is only one place for a post-ride double-double. It’s not just a drink—it’s a celebration of surviving another ride through the Great White North

Canadian riders are a different breed. We ride through the cold, dodge wildlife like pros, and laugh in the face of gravel roads. It’s not always easy, but that’s what makes it fun. So here’s to Canadian riders—the toughest, and most resilient bikers out there. Spring is just around the corner… let’s ride, eh?
